Then yesterday, Boss Lady's uncle actually said "it's pretty lonely up here huh?". Internally I was "huh!"-ing myself since he's always so gruff and never talks to anyone unless his staff ask him something, and I said "it's alright". The other bloke (he's the one that fiddles around with the baking stuff in the next room) actually half shouted his morning greeting to me when I was on my way in and that took me aback since I thought they were told not to fraternise with the interns...
And then not more than half an hour ago, Boss Lady's uncle walked into my office and wished my a good morning and when hunting around for something while mumbling out loud the entire way. I sat in my seat stunned. I guess it takes him a while to get around to being comfortable enough with people?
I got 3 namecards from people in the industry (I saw Suzanne Jung from PTM!!) at the launch of Crabtree and Evelyn's IRIS line. The smell is scintillating. The deco was impressive and the entire set up was mesmerising. I'm not the type to get impressed by fancy get-ups but I was impressed with yesterday's event. I was treated like one of them and I felt super proud that my boss actually called me her colleague and not her intern. My boss's friend actually walked up to me after the shindig just to talk to me- on her own accord. Like WOWEEEE!
Boss Lady is super cute. She got herself a glass of champagne and took a macaroon only to stuff it in her mouth and not be able to chew. Twas hilarious watching her chew and swallow. (: They had little adorable ballerinas giving out fresh stalks of Irises together with the scent of the new perfume and I was giddy with the excitement of it all. The speeches from the Dato' (I thought females held the title of Datin) and managing director were a wee bit odd but then again, I ain't no expert. The centre piece (of fresh Irises entwined with strands of pearly looking globes) and the significance of a watering can to officially open the ceremony were interesting touches. I will post pictures soon cos my writing isn't doing justice.
Oh and the freebies, the freebies. All "friends from the media" as we were called, got a bottle of eu de toilette, moisturiser and bath gel to bring home. :D My mum already intends on sneaking away with it, just like I told Boss Lady in the car on the way to drop me off at the train station.
