a memory to be forgotten

I'm sorry to those who were expecting me to blog earlier- was pretty busy trying to hold down the fort on numerous fronts.

Those who know me better, would know that I can't compartmentalise and prioritise almost everything in my life (yes, I hear the snickers from those of you who have seen my multi-track mind at work) but after a recent near-terribly bad accident, I'm trying quite hard to slot this incident in a part of my head I'd rather not remember.

My mum took her car with her so I had to get my dad to send me for ballet this week and we used the same route I use every time. Only difference was this time, my dad ended up on the extreme left lane when we had to turn right and I point it out to him (if it was me, I'd already be in the right lane). He speeds up when the light changes and we cut the car on the left to get onto the middle lane. I hear this red Mini Cooper (I thought of no one but you, red Mini lover) rev it's engine and speed up next to us (perhaps doing at least 70 or 80 on a 50km/h road). There's a stretch to cover before we have to turn right and we can see that the light is clearly green for us. At this small road that is TRAFFIC LIGHT CONTROLLED, I see this dark blue BMW 7 Series not slowing down (he's gonna cut straight into out path) and the Mini next to us is a wee but ahead of us... and I knew what was going to happen.

There's a sickening crunch of metal and the sharp squeal of the tires from brakes being hit. The cars were facing each other (the Mini was supposed to be facing the way you're facing your computers reading this and the BM is supposed to be where your mouse is if you are a righty. The BMW was on the opposite side (on the left) and the Mini (which had taken over the place of the BM was facing it. The first thing that went through my mind was that that could have been my dad and me. We were that close. That close. The I look at the two drivers who appears frustrated and trembly (BM) and slumped over the wheel and dazed (Mini). THEN I see NEON GREEN SLUDGE (radiator fluid- YEAH I didn't know twas that colour toooo!) sputtering and gushing out of the Mini. I have this thing against slimey neon green stuff, it just makes me shudder and feel sick.

I didn't realise I was ashen till my ballet teacher abruptly stops the music to watch me lace up my pointe shoes and watch me amble over to the barre that I realise I must look quite bad. My friends looked freaked and in between grande jetes and port de bras, I'm recounting, quietly of course, the accident. My mates actually squealed together at the gooey green part. That was funny. But I still think about that accident.. fresh in my mind.... 3 days after it happened.

Oh, and as for the internship interview... let's just keep our fingers crossed. I still feel like God's got a hand in this. Another thing I'm having to deal with now is the cousin's ROM/Reception dance this weekend. After I choreographed the steps on Friday, I find out via text at 1am that the song AND the steps have been changed. Oh, and by "only the music has changed" = music AND steps have changed. That's my cousin's definition, arghhhh! Then there's the party. The addresses are still trickling in so some are headed out late.
